Legal aspects and the nature of the exercise of author's economic rights Abstract The thesis concerns the right to exercise author's economic rights by a person other than the author in the legal system of the Czech Republic. It analyses the nature of this peculiar right regulated in § 58 of the Copyright Act in terms of its classification in the system of private law and the resulting key characteristics. The thesis examines the position of the executor of author's economic rights, as a person investing in the creation of works of autorship and integrating the process of creating complex works. This is gaining importance especially in connection with the development of investment-intensive IT systems protected by copyright. The thesis seeks to capture the complexity of copyright issues in the creation of large- scale works and maps out all relevant situations in which the right to exercise author's economic rights may be transferred to a person referred to as an employer under the Copyright Act. In particular, the research focuses on works created by multiple co-authors who make their contributions to work under different titles, which impose obligations on them in relation to the various employers involved in the process of creating the work.
